Many of you told us that you wanted to test out the functionality of applicant profiles immediately. And so, for all new users, SmartRecruiters CEO Jerome Ternynck is now waiting for you in the software as a Test Applicant! Many of you also noticed that the “state” does not accompany “city” on all displays of job postings. So now they do. And to meet the need to mass share a branded and personalized message, we improved the versatility of email templates.

Test Applicant
    • New companies starting to use SmartRecruiters will now see a test job and a test applicant, which are created automatically

    • You can jump right in and check it out for yourself on how easy it is to manage jobs and applicants

    • Use the easy actions to view, share, email, schedule interviews…or simply reject your Test Applicant

Job Location
    • This week we also implemented an update to tackle certain situations where a confusion might occur:  Is this job that I see on your website for Richmond, Virginia  or for Richmond, Texas?  Well, no need to worry any more about causing confusion for applicants:

  • Job Widgets and Career Site now display the job location with both the city and the state in the format. ex.: “San Francisco, CA”

Email Templates
    • An update to the email templates ensures that all default templates are available for all newly created accounts

    • Remember that you can fully customize them and also create your very own templates for any type of communication

    • Whether it be scheduling interviews, confirming appointments, turning down applicants, sending job offers, or virtually any type of communication you plan on sending to applicants, you can make it easy, fast, and efficient

    • The email templates allow you to send fully personalized emails (even to multiple candidates at once) in seconds!

Some Bug Fixes
    • Another update to the job location now ensures that even some smaller cities are recognized and can be displayed on the Job Ad.

    • Also fixed this week was an annoying issue that caused some of you to inadvertently take down posted jobs.

    • An issue with the parsing email address that caused a delay in email applications being processed and imported, has been solved.

  • Some Internet Explorer users were experiencing difficulties with the drag and drop components on the Career Site setup and Online Application customization. This is now solved.

It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of April! What a month it’s been! And if you are thinking, “Wow, you guys sure made some dramatic changes this month;” well, you probably have a point there.

Not only did we go live with a smashing new website and said bye to purple and hello to green, but we were also very excited to introduce some important new updates to SmartRecruiters led by the newly revamped and improved Home and Admin pages.

Along the way, our Krakow team also managed to move to a lovely new home (see our new office overlooking the Vistula river in Krakow) and we even got to chill out for a few days around Easter. Life is good! And what really made all the difference was reading your great feedback (thank you!) and hearing how you are enjoying the new SmartRecruiters.

So let’s have a quick rundown of what’s new:

  • The Homepage was redesigned to make it easier to navigate to use, helping you stay in control on your hiring efforts. Your active jobs now take center stage so you can keep an easy overview and new alert indicators alongside each job light up when there is new activity, such as new candidates for the jobs.
  •

Access to frequently used actions is now accessible directly from the new homepage along with a helpful “Get Started” area.

  • Further important updates, like the tweaks to the system alerts that ensure they stay open in your session and you can go back and review them at anytime, were added to various other features – all designed to ensure the system is smarter, better, and helps you with your daily work.
  •

  • The updated Admin page has a refined layout to better present the list of actions and make it easier for you to customize and configure your SmartRecruiters software. Links to the Add-Ons are now integrated into the Admin page along with easy access to additional tools such as restoring deleted applications.
  •

  • On the Applicant List improved filters help you sort out and work with your applicants faster and more efficient, while a new “Mark as hired” action was introduced to ensure quick and easy access to all available actions and applicant statuses from the main action menu.
  •

  • With your help and feedback we also got rid of some annoying bugs and problems as we continue to work on making the system even faster, easier, and smarter.
  •

What’s coming next:

What you can expect in the coming month are more updates and new features to make SmartRecruiters better and easier. You can check out what the redesigned Job List page will look like and make sure to keep an eye out for announcements on more upcoming features like the advanced search and new smart system notifications. Along with our Add-On partners, we also have some new surprises and gifts in store for you! And speaking of gifts – did you take advantage of the free LinkedIn job posting? In case you haven’t claimed your gift yet, it’s still not too late! Hurry and post your job for free on LinkedIn by April 30th.

January was an exciting start to the new 2011 for everyone here at SmartRecruiters. Coinciding with what is traditionally one of the busiest times in recruitment, this was also a time for us to work hard on delivering on our usability-driven roadmap. We have been prioritizing our roadmap to ensure SmartRecruiters is easy and helps you do your job better. Summarizing our mantra in one sentence goes like this: “Hiring should be easy!”

Well, we hope this month brought us all a lot closer to this goal. Scroll below for a roundup of what’s new in SmartRecruiters.

      • A new Quick Post functionality went live. It includes a simple and intuitive 2 step wizard to create and post your job to free boards and aggregators, social networks, and your own career page or job widget. You even have access to a selection of some of the best commercial boards out there.
  • Easy User Roles were introduced to ensure that privileges in the system are clear, consistent, and easy to understand for everyone. As part of this update, you can easily manage your colleagues’ level of access using the Standard, Extended, and Admin user roles.
    • A Share Profile feature greatly enhances your ability to collaborate with your colleagues in SmartRecruiters. You can now drive and take advantage of collaboration to more easily and efficiently manage and review applicants  with your team
      • Miscellaneous updates to styling and navigation to increase usability and help you work more efficiently with the system. We also continued our work on improving performance to ensure that your work with SmartRecruiters is not only easy, but fast as well.
      • Trovit, a new free job aggregator site, is now integrated to give you better reach and increased exposure to your jobs. You can post jobs to Trovit and other free sites and aggregators directly via the Quick Post featureAn Advanced Search was implemented so you can do keyword searches through your applicant profiles. Finding applicants with particular background or skills is no longer a problem no matter the size of your database

What’s coming next:

Coming in the next few weeks are new features and updates to improve your daily work with SmartRecruiters. Revamps of the job and applicants pages are coming to bring better usability and navigation.  Updated easy candidate actions will ensure you can manage and communicate with candidates effortlessly and bring SmartRecruiters’ full potential right at your fingertips.  As requested by many of you on the SmartRecruiters community, we are also working on adding new reports to help you work better and smarter.

We hope you enjoy these new additions. Don’t hesitate to let us know what you think – drop us a note below!

Let’s face it, creating and posting a job can be tedious and painful. You visit many different sites, fill out a lot of forms, copy-paste your job a dozen times, and before you know it, it’s been an hour since you’ve started. And that’s just the start – now your candidates are all over the place and you need to spend precious time going through your email and sorting them out. So why all the pain? Shouldn’t it be easier than that?

We believe so. That’s why a new Quick Post feature just went live in SmartRecruiters and put simply, it is the fastest and easiest way to promote your job. Here is how it works:

Create a job

Use our simple intuitive wizard to create your job. As always, we tried to make it as easy as possible. You can even take advantage of saved job templates and pre-set styling settings to save time and ensure a professional and branded look of your jobs.

One-click Post

In a single click, get your job distributed across the internet to multiple free sites and aggregators as well as to your own career site and job widgets.

Social Networks

You can then easily start distributing your job on social networks, share it with friends onFacebook, connections on Linkedin, twitter followers and anyone you’re connected to in over 100 social networks worldwide.

Job Boards

SmartRecruiters also comes integrated with all the leading job boards allowing you to seamlessly dispatch your job across multiple sourcing channels.

Manage Candidates

Even better, with SmartRecruiters, all applicants are automatically consolidated in one place so you can start communicating, managing, and sharing them together with your colleagues.

So give it a try and let us know what you think!

It’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of November already. The last few months have been hectic, but also exciting for everyone here at SmartRecruiters. After going independent a little over a month ago, launching a new website, migrating to Amazon’s EC2 cloud, going live with our new community, and introducing a bunch of new features in September, we finally found ourselves with a bit of time to put together our October Release.

October saw us prioritizing our roadmap based on all your great feedback and working on features and issues shared by you:

  • We launched the Apply via Facebook feature. As requested by you, candidates can now apply to your jobs using their Facebook profile.
  •

  • Updates were introduced to the Applicant List, which now includes a new ajax table and increased performance so you can better manage your applicants.
  •

  • Our engineering team quickly fixed a number of bugs and issues including a problem with the labels on our online application form and an issue with the merge fields for our email auto-reply system.
  •

Now applicants can apply to positions via facebook:

What’s coming next:

New job widgets will make it easier to display your jobs on your website, blogs, community, product pages — wherever you’d like.  Work has started on a comprehensive search feature which is currently the highest voted idea on our community and thus one of our top priorities. Improvements will be made to the management of user roles. Finally, a new ‘Share Profile’ feature will  greatly enhance your ability to collaborate with your colleagues in SmartRecruiters — one of our first steps on our quest to make recruiting more social and enjoyable.

Thanks for all your fantastic support, and please don’t hesitate to contribute on the SmartRecruiters Community!
